Job opportunities for graduates in West of Ireland

23 Mar 2011

More than 15 companies recruiting third-level graduates will visit NUI Galway on Wednesday, 30 March, for the Graduate Recruitment and Opportunities in the West Careers Fair (GROW), which will feature employers based in the West of Ireland.

Some of the country’s top recruiting firms will attend the event, including Fidelity Investments, Medtronic, Cisco and Mazars. A variety of local and newly established businesses, including Bioware (a division of EA Games), Cambus Medical, CSN Stores and Lumension will also be attending the event to seek talented and qualified graduates, including Bioware (a division of EA Games), Cambus Medical, CSN Stores and Lumension.

The companies are interested in recruiting NUI Galway graduates from a wide range of disciplines, including IT, business, science, engineering and languages.

“With all the doom and gloom it is refreshing to know that in the West of Ireland organisations are actively recruiting,” says Deirdre Sheridan of the NUI Galway Career Development Centre.

“This is the perfect opportunity for alumni and current students to meet with local employers to explore graduate opportunities available on our doorstep, and hopefully kick-start a career in the West of Ireland. My advice for all visitors is to come prepared, with a CV in hand and be ready to network with potential employers.”

NUI Galway Career Development Centre is organising the event in collaboration with the NUI Galway Alumni Association. The GROW careers fair takes place 5-7pm in the Orbsen Building on the NUI Galway campus, and is accessible via Distillery Road.

The event will also enable graduates to get tips and advice for their CVs from NUI Galway alumni. The alumni will also help ‘match’ individuals with a mentor in their chosen career area. The event will also feature information about volunteering and post-graduate opportunities.

Interested graduates can access details, including a full list of exhibitors, through the Career Development Centre website.
