Anyone who has embarked on a job search knows it is a journey of highs and lows, from sending out that first CV to assessing an offer. Our collection of gifs relay the entire emotional process.
A job search may start with seeking out potential opportunities from a network of contacts, such as family, friends, former co-workers, or that LinkedIn contact you’ve never even met face-to-face.
At this stage, the job-seeker is full of motivation and optimism for the potential that lies ahead: a great career, cool colleagues, a 10-minute commute to work, and free coffees.
Then comes asking co-workers from your last job to serve as references, if need be, but this can prove to be a challenge if your previous job felt like this:
If it’s been awhile since you first sent out CVs or made phone calls and haven’t heard anything back from potential employers, try not to lose faith.
Receiving a thanks but no-thank-you reply to an application sucks, too.
Hang in there, however, because before you know it you’ll be in full dress rehearsal for your job interview!
Remember to always be professional in job interviews. If you don’t know how to answer a question, consider smiling and nodding.
And try not to balk if the interviewer tells you the salary the company is offering for the position.
Sometimes, you may not get the job.
And sometimes, you may be the one saying “no thank you” to a job offer.
Then the day will come when you are offered the job you’ve been coveting for weeks, you fab thing, you!
