Nypro Healthcare to expand in Bray, creating 100 new jobs

7 Dec 2012

An Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton, TD, have announced that Nypro Healthcare will open a new medical device development centre at its facility in Bray, Co Wicklow, creating 100 new high-quality jobs.

Over the past two years, Nypro Healthcare has created 160 new jobs in Ireland and today’s jobs announcement will bring its total Irish workforce to 460.

Nypro has been operating in Ireland since 1980 and in recent years redirected its focus from electronics to the development and manufacture of complex high-growth inhalation and injectable drug delivery devices.

“Nypro Healthcare is now a recognised leader in the development and manufacture of complex drug delivery and diagnostics devices. This seismic shift in our business model in the last five years was enabled by our parent company Nypro Inc and built upon the skills, work ethic, creativity and drive of our Nypro Ireland team,” said James O’Gorman, vice-president of drug delivery and diagnostics at Nypro.

“Ireland has proven to be a very successful location for us,” he added. “I would like to thank Nypro Inc, the Irish Government, the IDA and our Ireland team for their continued support and look forward to the further growth of our operation here in future years.”

At the announcement, Bruton emphasised the importance of the healthcare and life-sciences sector for employment growth and his determination to build on this.

The development is supported by Government through IDA Ireland, and CEO Barry O’Leary was also present at the announcement.

“Nypro Healthcare is an excellent example of a company that has identified a need for expertise in a particular market and transformed its existing operation to serve this niche,” he said. “I am particularly impressed by Nypro Healthcare’s client list in Ireland – they are working with some of the biggest pharma brands in the world, many of whom have significant operations here.”
