The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation Batt O’Keeffe, who is currently taking part in an Enterprise Ireland trade mission in the Middle East to promote exports and Irish firms, has said there will be a €36m investment as a result of his trip.
O’Keeffe said “lucrative contracts” will help the economy and provide jobs at home, as well as drive Ireland’s exports.
Technology colleges were among those benefiting from the €36m and the minister yesterday announced that a string of technology colleges (Carlow, Cork and Blanchardstown) are to train hundreds of Saudi students in an agreement reached by the Irish and Saudi governments.
Important boost
O’Keeffe described this week’s trade mission as “an important boost for Ireland’s export-led economic recovery”.
“Enterprise Ireland client firms’ exports to the Middle East are worth €385m and this week’s trade mission shows that there is scope to dramatically ramp up our business activity in the rapidly growing emerging market.”
