IT and engineering recruitment firm Oxford International has invested €16m into its Cork-based European headquarters, which will result in the creation of 56 new jobs over the next 18 months.
The company has already begun its recruitment drive to fill primarily administrative positions and roles for recruiters and account managers.
With the addition of these employees, Oxford International’s workforce will almost double to 130 jobs at its Penrose Quay facility in Cork City, making it the largest recruitment office in Ireland’s southern region.
The Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland is supporting the investment.
Oxford’s president Michael J McGowan said Cork has been the hub of the company’s European activity since 1994.
“Our workforce has steadily grown because of the quality talent pool available in the region. The ease of access to our European markets make it the ideal place to do business,” McGowan said.
Oxford International is a division of On Assignment, which has more than 2,850 employees in its network of about 130 branch offices throughout Ireland, the US, the UK, Spain, Belgium, Canada and the Netherlands.
The expansion in Cork will make it On Assignment’s largest European office and the flagship of its business in Europe.
