SoftwareOne invests €16m in 100 jobs and new Dublin office

21 Sep 2016

A major expansion to SoftwareOne’s Irish operations, to the tune of €16m, will see 100 jobs come on stream over the next three years, according to the company. Dublin will enjoy the lion’s share of the new roles.

Having entered Ireland in 2011 with the opening of an office in Mahon, Co Cork, SoftwareOne is opening a new Dublin office with hopes of adding 100 to its headcount by 2019.

The Blanchardstown office is part of a €16m expansion plan by the Swiss software company, with the majority of the new roles to be housed in the new office.

The roles to be created by SoftwareOne include senior scrum masters, full-stack developers, front-end developers, test engineers and user experience experts, as well as positions in HR, finance, sales and administration.

“Today’s announcement by SoftwareOne once again endorses Ireland’s position as a thriving global tech hub,” said Martin Shanahan, CEO of IDA Ireland.

“Businesses that locate here can source excellent talent in a business-friendly English-speaking environment with a track record for investment, which is second to none. I wish SoftwareOne the continued support of IDA Ireland as it grows over the coming years.”

The expansion at the company comes on the back of SoftwareOne’s new PyraCloud Platform, which has broadened the company’s client base.

Graham Quinn, SoftwareOne’s global lead for PyraCloud, said: “We’re delighted to be in a position to expand our Irish operations and I would like to thank the team in IDA Ireland for their ongoing support.

“I am very much looking forward to expanding our talented team and to continuing our global growth strategy.”

SoftwareOne was established in 1985 and took in $5bn sales in 2015. Mike Gersten, the company’s global innovations and platforms officer, said the Irish move is “an exciting time” in the company’s journey.

Minister for Jobs, Mary Mitchell O’Conner, TD said: “We are all aware that cloud computing is a huge growth area and this company is at the cutting edge of this exciting development.

“SoftwareOne’s expansion builds on our success in developing a thriving software sector in Ireland over recent years, following our investment in developing appropriate skills.”
