Zynga jobs announcement for Dublin imminent

Creator of FarmVille and CityVille, Zynga, is expected to make a jobs announcement for Ireland today, giving a further boost to its already blossoming gaming sector.

With more than 215m monthly active users, and more than 50m daily active users, Zynga was founded in July 2007 by Mark Pincus.

People play Zynga’s free online games through social networking sites Facebook, MySpace and Yahoo!, as well as on Apple iPhones. The company makes money from selling virtual goods and game credits via credit card and PayPal to users within the games; it also sells pre-paid cards worth virtual currency.

The company’s newest office is in Dublin, dedicated to supporting Zynga’s expanding global base of users and customers.

Zynga has been valued at between $7bn and $10bn and is reported to be preparing for an initial public offering at the end of June.

According to Newstalk 106FM, Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton, TD, will announce further details on Zynga’s plans for Ireland this morning.
