Fifty highly-skilled jobs are to be added to the workforce of EPS, a specialist in wet infrastructure support services, as part of a new design and manufacturing centre in its facility in Mallow, Cork.

Subject to the company achieving a successful outcome in the planning process, it intends to begin construction in the summer, with an expected completion time of 12 months, and it is then expected to contribute to the design and manufacture of products utilised in the construction of water and wastewater treatment plants.

This announcement has come after the company agreed a €3m investment that will ensure the creation of these 50 highly-skilled jobs, supporting EPS’s activities in the water sector.

The company, founded in December 1968, will be adding to its current roster of 340 employees based throughout Ireland, the UK and the Middle East, having established itself as one of the leading design, build and asset management companies in the sector.

As well as the 50 jobs to be created in the development of water treatment plants, 35 construction jobs are also to be created.

Patrick Buckley, deputy managing director at the EPS Group, said of the announcement: “The proposed expansion is the next necessary step in the development of our business, and will reinforce our position as one of the leading water and wastewater companies in our markets where we provide a full end to end service for our customers.

“EPS design, manufacture, install and operate 100pc of the water and wastewater infrastructure it provides and we are unique in our sector for this.”

Julie Sinnamon, CEO of Enterprise Ireland, added: “The expansion plans for EPS at its Mallow facility will further enhance the company’s ability to compete in international markets. The project will lead to the creation of 50 skilled jobs and I wish Patrick and the team continued success with the company.”
