Schrader Electronics is to create 130 jobs in Antrim and Carrickfergus, as part of a £29m investment.

Schrader Electronics, based in Antrim, is involved in the design and manufacture of tyre pressure monitoring systems for the automotive industry.

“The new job opportunities will bring the number of people employed here in Carrick to 160 and combined with the staff at our Antrim headquarters, Schrader Electronics is providing a workforce of over 580 people in Northern Ireland and a further 30 at our global locations with exciting, diverse and rewarding careers,” said Schrader Electronics managing director Stephen McClelland.

“This new facility here at Carrick and the increase in staff is the result of a multi-million pound joint investment by Schrader Electronics and a £3.5m offer of assistance from Invest NI.”

Leslie Morrison, CEO of Invest Northern Ireland, congratulated the company on the official opening of its new facility, based at Invest NI’s Trooperslane Industrial Park.

“The decision to locate this new facility in Carrickfergus is a testament to the skills and capabilities of the local workforce,” she said. “The new plant, with its increased production capacity, will enable Schrader Electronics to consolidate its position as a global market leader in its target business sectors.”
