Audi Ireland has announced a €6m investment in a new state-of-the-art showroom in Waterford city, which will result in 30 new jobs being created over the next two years.

The construction phase of the Audi Waterford showroom, which is due to open next summer, will create 50 full- and part-time jobs.

Audi Waterford is the authorised Audi dealer for the southeast region. The new showroom will display 18 new Audi models and up to 60 used cars.

Audi Ireland said the investment is part of an overall strategic plan that will see it spend €80m over the next 18 months and create around 200 jobs.

The company is in the process of rolling out 10 dedicated Audi dealerships throughout Ireland.

“This fantastic terminal-style showroom is a massive signal of intent and it will bring a whole new motoring experience to the southeast,” said Andrew Doyle, director of Audi Ireland.

“Audi Ireland will continue to invest to ensure we are the clear No 1 premium car brand in Ireland by 2015,” he continued. “The first eight months of 2011 have seen Audi confirm its position as the leading premium car brand in Ireland, with an increase in sales of 22.7pc despite the economic downturn and instability.”
