Boulder Media on the search for Dublin animators amid expansion

23 Mar 2017

Fresh from its acquisition by Hasbro last year, Boulder Media’s grand plans are being revealed as its Dublin expansion takes shape.

An expanded team of designers is needed. A relocation to a larger studio is needed. Both are underway at Boulder Media, the Irish animation studio purchased by Hasbro last summer.

Currently employing 160 people at its Irish operation, Boulder has not revealed the number of animators needed, though it is said to be “hiring significantly” to support its growing production pipeline.

The areas with available roles include conceptual design, 2D and 3D animation, and animated CG feature film.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled about the opportunities we can offer our crew,” said Robert Cullen, creative director at Boulder Media.

“We’re bringing to life some of the world’s most famous and popular brands here in Dublin. It’s unique and very special both for our studio and the local industry.”

Since joining Hasbro, Boulder’s project list has understandably lengthened, with the former’s brands of Transformers, Littlest Pet Shop and Micronauts needing additional focus.

Founded at the turn of the millennium, Boulder Media, under the leadership of Cullen, has had a successful return. It has produced a number of shows over the course of 17 years for the BBC, Disney, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network.

Hasbro swooped in last summer, claiming Boulder was one of “the most progressive, innovative and creative teams in the business” at the time.

“At Hasbro, we are very fortunate to have an extraordinarily robust brand portfolio, and we’re excited to be working with the team at Boulder to bring our brands to life through storytelling for more audiences through more platforms than ever before,” said Stephen Davis, executive vice-president and chief content officer at Hasbro.

“As we build our storytelling capabilities across TV, film, digital and social media, we’re looking to add talented, passionate, perpetually curious crew to our award-winning team of animators.”
