Looking to relocate within the tech industry? Bournemouth should definitely be on your list of places to consider.
This month, we’re taking a closer look at Bournemouth, and how it feeds into the global sci-tech ecosystem with its own vibrant technology hub.
It’s safe to say that, while it’s not on the cheaper side of things when it comes to accommodation, Bournemouth still attracts a wealth of tech talent due to its idealistic way of living.
That might be enough for you to consider relocating there, but tech talent will still want to know what the job market is like.
Want to know what the most in-demand tech roles are in Bournemouth? Curious about the kind of salary you can expect?
We spoke to our friends at Hays to find out more about the major tech jobs in Bournemouth and found that three of the top five in-demand roles involved development.
Specifically, .Net developers take the top spot, with an average salary of £40,000, while a BI developer matches that average salary and comes in at number four as one of the most in-demand tech roles.
The second-hottest role in Bournemouth is front-end developer, making an average annual salary of £36,000.
Outside of the development space, Bournemouth’s unique selling point from a jobseeker’s point of view is its digital and creative industry. According to Hays, there is roughly one digital agency per 1,000 people in Bournemouth.
This is backed up further by the Tech Nation Report released in 2017, which shows that nearly 16,000 people are employed in digital technology, with an average advertised digital salary of just below £40,000.
Additionally, 26pc of digital tech businesses in the area are classed as ‘high-growth’.
