Career Zoo 2014: What do tech employers want? (video)

17 Feb 2014

At Career Zoo 2014 in the Convention Centre Dublin, we asked tech employers from companies big and small, as well as representatives from research and education, what it is that tech employers want from potential employees.

In the first video, we speak to Anne Lanigan who was at the event representing IT’s Happening Here, an initiative of the Irish indigenous software sector supported by Enterprise Ireland. IT’s Happening Here promotes career opportunities in Irish-owned software companies, such as Storm Technology and Datalex, and we also spoke to Storm CEO Karl Flannery and Datalex’s organisation development manager Fran Finnegan, who were hoping to further recruitment at Career Zoo on 15 February.

We also quizzed Gillian French, chief people officer at CarTrawler, and Michael Flynn, director of the MBA programme at Trinity College Dublin.

In the second video, we pose the same question to Paul Downey, the tech manager at AOL’s Dublin office; Fergal Collins, chief operating officer at the Aon Centre for Innovation and Analytics; Dr Aoibheann Bird, education and outreach manager at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics; Lars Holzman, engineering site manager for TripAdvisor Dublin and Oliver McKenna, CEO of Unum Ireland.
