These 8 companies all have exciting opportunities for graduates

If you’re just starting out in the world of work, you should consider looking into some of these firms as places to take the next step in your career.

What you do when you leave college can form your professional habits in an extremely important way. You may be pondering your first role after graduation with a mixture of excitement and trepidation, simultaneously excited for the future and worried about making a crucial misstep.

In all truth, you have no need to feel anxious. No two people are the same and not everyone’s working life is going to involve the same steps or go at the same pace. As long as you make the best decision for you, everything will be fine.

These companies, however, may give you something to get excited about. They all boast comprehensive graduate opportunities that are sure to get your professional life started right, and they’re all currently recruiting for bright minds.

Mastercard

In addition to its internship and graduate programme, payments giant Mastercard has a number of different exciting opportunities at associate level across software engineering, data science and cybersecurity.

PwC

PwC will be hiring over 300 graduates in 2020, with roles in technology consulting, management consulting, assurance, tax and risk assurance. It has a number of assurance vacancies across its regional offices in Ireland that are open for applicants right now. However, the lion’s share of its graduate roles will go live just as many students return to their books next month – 4 September, to be exact.

“We will be looking for students with strong relationship-building skills, technical skills and academics. You are eligible to apply if you are in line to achieve a minimum of a 2.1 degree,” Catherine Lynch, from the firm’s graduate recruitment team, explained. Genomics Medicine Ireland

Genomics Medicine Ireland (GMI) offers an internship programme that promises to provide the necessary experience and mentoring to help you excel in your career. Interested parties are directed to the company’s internship page to learn more about the exciting opportunities available.

Liberty IT

Liberty IT is the technology arm of Liberty Mutual Insurance, a US-headquartered global insurance company. It has a number of internship and graduate opportunities in software engineering, data engineering and cloud engineering.

“We hire and invest in people with a desire to learn and grow, and equip them for success through a dedicated, industry-leading six-week training course where you design, build and deploy products using Java, Spring Boot, Angular and AWS technologies,” explained Stephen Killilea, Liberty IT talent acquisition partner.

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care has a number of different graduate opportunities available in areas such as business analysis, science, engineering, supply chain and more.

EY

Professional services firm EY takes on more than 270 graduates from all degree disciplines every September across its five offices in Dublin, Limerick, Cork, Waterford and Galway. The programme length ranges from two to three years depending on which of its service lines graduates join. EY promises to help graduates establish an invaluable career network and set themselves up to become a partner, a senior leader or even set up their own company.

“The programme is a career incubator. Quite simply, it’s the perfect foundation to develop your natural talents, naturally,” said Cait Monagher, graduate recruitment manager at the firm.

Citi

Leading global bank Citi, which serves more than 200m customers worldwide, offers three different graduate programmes: a 15-month non-rotational programme as an operation analyst, a two-year trade and treasury solutions analyst rotational programme based in both Ireland and another EU country, and a two-year rotational programme as a technology analyst based entirely in Ireland.

“At Citi, we are always on the lookout for the best talent to join our technology teams. We currently have over 500 technologists in Dublin, who come from a diverse range of technology backgrounds. We love to hear from recent or upcoming graduates who want to build a career in software development,” a spokesperson from Citi explained.

“Our graduate programme commences in September with a two-year structured programme that includes rotations across different teams and technologies, which includes strong guidance and leadership from the more experienced members of the team. Dropbox
