Designer Group’s rapid expansion has been given a boost with the opening of a new facility in Dublin, and the promise of fresh recruitment.
A splurge of new jobs in Dublin is continuing today (12 May) with news of engineering company Designer Group adding 100 new roles.
With offices already in London and Frankfurt, as well as Limerick and a prior facility in Ireland’s capital, Designer Group’s overall headcount has soared from 400 to 650 in the last two years.
The next wave of hires will be filled in the coming 12 months, according to early reports, with Blanchardstown chosen for its latest home.
According to The Irish Times, Designer Group recorded pre-tax profits of €3.9m in January 2016 on turnover that rose 64pc to €82.9m, from €50.6m.
Created in 1992, the new offices are part of a €2m investment from the company, with apprentices numbered in triple figures trained at Designer Group’s previous Dublin base.
Last week, Siliconrepublic.com looked at the various industries looking to plug holes in their labour force, with opportunities emerging from pharma and medtech, to IT and engineering.
“Those looking to apply for a job would be forgiven for thinking the most important thing to work on is hard, technical skills, especially when going for a job in tech,” wrote Jenny Darmody.
“However, recent research shows that soft skills such as communication and critical thinking are superior when it comes to job success.”
All eyes on Dublin
Another tip, in recent weeks, is to keep an eye on the Dublin market.
Earlier today, for example, it emerged that Aspire Technology is on the hunt for new staff in Dublin, too, aiming to employ software development and network engineers, design specialists and project managers.
This to satisfy its latest recruitment drive, with 150 new workers the company’s target, a doubling of its total headcount.
Bill Walsh, CEO and founder of Aspire Technology, said an increase in demand for his company’s products has led to this requirement for new staff.

Elsewhere, Globoforce’s Dublin headcount is set to soar, with the technology company creating 100 new positions over the next three years.
SAP’s 150-strong recruitment drive will be split between the capital and Galway, with CAE Parc Aviation spreading 80 new roles across Shannon and Dublin.
Fintech firm InfoHedge and millennial training company EngageSmith are also recruiting.
