IDA reveals a further 100 tech jobs for Ireland – six new projects

30 May 2012

Four new companies and expansions by two existing ones culminating in 100 new jobs add impetus to what is already a heady week for tech jobs announcements in Ireland.

The week began with 100 new jobs at Amazon as well as 125 jobs at IDG Connect in Dublin, 50 new jobs at Action Point in Limerick, 20 new jobs at MSD Healthcare in Carlow and 40 new jobs at Buyersclub.ie in Dublin. IBEC-based IT industry group ICT Ireland said more IT jobs have been created at this point in 2012 – some 4,000 jobs – than in all of last year.

Today it emerged that four new companies will create 100 new jobs and two emerging companies will locate their headquarters in Ireland.

Red 5 Studios, an online games developer, is to establish its European Headquarters in Cork, with the creation of 30 jobs.

Aasonn, a global human capital management (HCM) and technology services company, is to establish its European headquarters in Dublin with the creation of 30 new jobs.

Van Tibolli Beauty Corp, provider of GK Hair products, is to establish its EU headquarters in Dublin, creating 25 jobs in customer support and multilingual marketing roles.

Qualvu Inc., a key emerging player in the provision of web-based qualitative research, is to establish its EMEA headquarters in Dublin with the creation of 15 new jobs.

Infobright, a Toronto-based analytics company, is to locate its EMEA headquarters along with a customer support centre, in Dublin.

Md7, an operations and financial services company, is to establish its European HQ in Dublin.

“We must attract more companies, we must ensure that they locate higher-value activities here, we must ensure that they have a greater impact on the economy,” Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton said this morning.

“Targeting high-growth emerging companies is a key part of this, as these companies will establish deep roots here from early in their growth, and ultimately have a substantial impact on our economy.”

“Today’s announcement that six high-growth emerging companies are locating operations here with the creation of 100 jobs is great news for Dublin and Ireland. The Government is determined to build on this to ensure that we can continue to see the flow of multinational investment to Ireland and help create the growth and jobs we need,” Bruton said.

Barry O’Leary, CEO of IDA Ireland, said the six new projects further add to Ireland’s reputation as a host for emerging companies.

“The importance of companies internationalising at an early stage has never been greater and Ireland provides a great environment in which to do this. Ireland has built a strong reputation as an international hub for a variety of business sectors and hosts the top 10 born-on-the-internet companies, including Twitter, Google, eBay/PayPal and Facebook. IDA Ireland’s strategy Horizon 2020 identifies winning investment from emerging sectors as one of its key targets and it is encouraging to see that since the start of 2012 alone, 40 emerging-stage companies have decided to set up FDI operations in Ireland.”

IDA Ireland will be taking part in the Xsite event in Boston on 14 June, to highlight to emerging companies the benefits of locating in Ireland.
