Irish Water to create 400 new jobs in Cork

30 May 2013

Utility company Irish Water is to create 400 jobs in Cork over the next three years on the back of a multi-million euro contract it has awarded Abtran to set up and run a call centre.

Abtran will be recruiting for jobs at the Irish Water call centre immediately, with 100 jobs expected to be filled in the next six months.

In addition to the call centre jobs, other new roles will be for engineers and administration staff.

The call centre staff will provide customer support, as a crew will install metres on more than a million properties ahead of new charges to take effect in 2015, the Irish Examiner reported.

The Irish Government asked Bord Gáis in April 2012 to establish Irish Water to roll out and manage metered water supplies to households across Ireland.
