60 new jobs for Limerick as Legato sets up R&D hub

14 Sep 2021

The technology services provider will operate a hybrid workplace just outside Limerick city.

Health insurance tech provider Legato Health Technologies will establish a new R&D centre in Limerick, creating 60 jobs over the next six months.

New hires at the company will include experts in data science and artificial intelligence engineers.

This newly recruited team will be responsible for building and iterating apps and AI technologies for Legato’s clients in healthcare and health insurance.

Legato will operate an open office space that supports hybrid work arrangements in Limerick’s National Technology Park, located just outside the city centre.

“At Legato, we are applying cutting-edge data science and engineering technologies to solve complex problems to improve the healthcare of humanity,” said Legato president Rajat Puri.

“We are looking for talent who want to work on the types of projects that will make an impact and we are thrilled to be here setting up our operations in Limerick.”

The investment is supported by the Irish Government and, according to an IDA statement, the availability of tech talent in Ireland’s mid-west region was a strong draw for Legato’s decision to locate in Limerick.

“The mid-west has a strong talent pool which will allow Legato’s new hub to thrive,” said Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Leo Varadkar, TD.

Legato also has major operations in India and the Philippines. The company was founded in 2017 as a subsidiary of Anthem, a health insurance company headquartered in the US state of Indiana. It supports healthcare management services and health insurers in digital transformation with technology offerings including data analytics, automation and AI.

The company describes itself as having the heritage of a large healthcare organisation coupled with the flexible mindset of a start-up.

Restating the agency’s commitment to supporting investments and job creation in regional locations, IDA Ireland CEO Martin Shanahan said: “IDA client companies based in the mid-west benefit from the region’s highly skilled and talented workforce.”

Details on jobs available at Legato Health Technologies Limerick are available on the company’s careers page.
