A new Mobile Technologies Inc centre in Drogheda will create 150 jobs over the next three years.
This morning (1 March), IDA Ireland announced that Mobile Technologies Inc (MTI) was to establish its European contact centre headquarters in the town of Drogheda, Co Louth.
MTI currently operates in 90 countries worldwide from its headquarters in Oregon in the US, and will now be bringing its mobile device display operations to Ireland.
As part of this announcement, MTI will create 150 jobs at the new office that will be filled over the next three years, with recruitment now underway in a variety of tech-based roles.
One of the company’s core divisions is ArmorActive, which develops multipurpose enclosures that allow tablet and smartphone deployments for business.
It also includes tech giants Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Sony, Bell and Telefonica as clients.
For retailers, the company provides security technology for stands to allow customers try out various gadgets without the need for a salesperson.
EU cited as reason for move
MTI president and CEO, Chris Remy, cited membership of the EU and a “talented, technology savvy workforce” as the reason for establishing in Ireland.
Welcoming the announcement, CEO of IDA Ireland Martin Shanahan commented: “The investment by MTI is fantastic news for the local economy of the north-east region.
“These high-quality jobs will have a positive knock-on effect on the wider region, and promote Drogheda as an ideal location for conducting international business. There is an excellent talent pool of skilled workers in the region and I have no doubt the company will thrive in its new headquarters.”
Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Mary Mitchell O’Connor, TD, said: “This is a great announcement by MTI, bringing 150 high-skilled jobs to Drogheda. Driving investment into regional locations is a key focus for me.
“This investment will be of considerable benefit to Drogheda and the border region, providing a significant boost to employment and benefiting the economy of the town and region.”
