Irish media start-up NewsWhip has announced it is to double its workforce with the addition of 25 new positions at the company along with the opening of a new HQ in Dublin.
Founded by Irish entrepreneur Paul Quigley and software engineer Andrew Mullaney in 2010, the company has established itself with a rather important data science tool called Spike, which has been embraced by some of the world’s busiest journalists and newsrooms to tap into social media.
Now, following a successful 2015, the company has moved into its new offices in Merrion Square in Dublin and will now offer 25 positions for new staff with expectations of filling all roles by June this year.
NewsWhip says the roles will cover a broad spectrum, including machine learning specialists, product designers, front-end and Java engineers, and account managers.
‘Will continue to grow from our Dublin base’
This will bring the company’s total employee numbers to 50 in its Dublin office, joining a further 12 it has in another office in New York, with further jobs announcements expected later this year.
Speaking of today’s announcement, co-founder Quigley, who is also the company’s CEO, said: “We’re proudly based in Dublin and serving our data and services to the world. It’s thrilling to see the team grow and expand – and our new HQ is a perfect new home.
“Although we’re very much an internationally-focused business, our technology was developed and will continue to grow from our Dublin base.”
Quigley spoke to Siliconrepublic.com only last month about where he sees the company progressing in the coming years, particularly following its successful closing of $1.6m in funding from VC firms and press agencies.
