Cybersecurity firm Smarttech247 announces 30 jobs for Cork

3 Oct 2017

Another jobs boost for Cork as cybersecurity firm Smarttech247 announces that it is looking to fill dozens of roles.

As it continues its gradual international expansion, cybersecurity firm Smarttech247 is planning to bolster its headquarters in Cork with the creation of 30 jobs.

With help from Enterprise Ireland, the company aims to have the recruitment process finished by the end of this year.

The roles are expected to cover the areas of security analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, international business sales and project management.

In addition to its Cork HQ, Smarttech247 has a base in the UK, and has also opened offices in Poland and North America to service a diverse international client base.

The company was one of the first infosec outfits to work with IBM Watson for Cyber Security, which uses AI to help tackle the growing threat of cyberattacks in a world where millions – if not billions – of devices are connected as part of the internet of things.

Speaking of the jobs boost, Ronan Murphy, CEO of Smarttech247, said: “The cybersecurity industry is very dynamic and Ireland is positioning itself as a leader in the space.

“The announcement of 30 new jobs is another important milestone for us and will allow us to develop more innovative products and services for international markets.”

Adding to this sentiment, it@cork chair Caroline O’Driscoll said: “Smarttech247 is a great example of a fast-paced Irish indigenous company that is growing to compete on a global scale. The announcement today of 30 new jobs shows that Cork (and Ireland) is an attractive hub for the continuing development of the cybersecurity sector.”
