60 jobs being created at Tipperary-based software diagnostics firm Technopath

16 Feb 2016

Technopath Clinical Diagnostics, a software company working within quality control for clinical labs, has announced it’s to create 60 jobs at its facility in Ballina, Co Tipperary.

Having last created a string of jobs back in 2012, Technopath Clinical Diagnostics will be looking to treble its manufacturing capacity at its Ballina plant with an investment of €5m from within the company.

The company’s two leading quality control and software products, Multichem and IAMQC, are now used in more than 5,000 laboratories in 110 countries globally and achieved notable success in 2015 when it received Chinese regulatory approval to sell its software in the country.

With the jobs to be created over the next two years, Technopath says that this will bring its staff numbers to 180 at its facility, following 18 months of rapid growth.

At the launch this morning (16 February) was Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Alan Kelly, who said it would bring a considerable boost to the region.

“This further investment will solidify the company’s position as a significant employer in Tipperary, strongly supporting the local economy,” Kelly said.

“It demonstrates that, thanks to the business-friendly environment created by the Government, world-class companies can emerge from relatively small towns like Ballina and create large-scale high-value employment in manufacturing and R&D.”

Adding his thoughts, Technopath’s CEO Malcolm Bell said: “I am very proud to say that this significant expansion is the result of a combined effort by our team over the last 10 years to create a world-class range of third-party quality control products for the global healthcare market.”
