The influential first hires of tech giants – where are they now? (infographic)

28 Oct 2015

Getting your start-up off the ground requires a great idea, a great amount of effort, a great amount of luck and a great team to push it all through. It is the latter, perhaps, that’s often overlooked.

Every major tech company had to start with a small team at some stage. As big as Google is now, we’ve all heard stories of Larry Page and Sergey Brin coming up with the idea in their shed.

Ebay’s explosion onto the online retailing scene may have caught many established outlets off-guard, but the right team and the right timing made its success a whole lot easier to accomplish.

We hear about Page and Brin, or Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos all the time, but who helped them achieve their success? Often, one of the first people they hired, actually.

They’ve depended on incredible people to rise up from humble beginnings into the tech giants they are today – and getting it right early on clearly pays huge dividends to the company in the long run.

Here, compiled by Adzuna, are the influential first hires from Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Ebay, Yahoo, Facebook, Google, Tumblr, Dropbox, Airbnb, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat and Uber, including what they achieved and where they are today.
