Aon seeks hires who understand patterns in big data – Fergal Collins, ACIA (video)

20 Feb 2014

We spoke to Fergal Collins, from the Aon Centre for Innovation and Analytics (ACIA), about the variety of 20 available positions at the centre.

Collins is the centre’s chief operating officer and was at Career Zoo in the Convention Centre Dublin on 15 February to speak to job-seekers and graduates and highlight that the ACIA is actively seeking to fill positions in areas like ETL, business intelligence, and data architecture.

The centre is also on the hunt for data scientists who have experience with computer languages, such as R and Python.

“It’s no good sitting on terabytes of data unless you can make sense of them,” said Collins. “Having a data scientist team in ACIA helps us make sense of that big pile of data, helps us do research on it and actually understanding what patterns come from that data.”
