What attracted you to the job you’re in now? Money? The people? The company name?
Money, it turns out, wasn’t the main concern, with just 23pc citing compensation as the biggest influence when choosing a job, with work environment (22pc) almost equally as important, and career opportunity (37pc) the most important factor of all.
Being challenged was a primary consideration for 42pc of those surveyed, with career development and advancement opportunities also key concerns for candidates. Location of the role was also a factor for almost a quarter (23pc) of those surveyed.
Almost 80pc of those surveyed were aged 25 to 44 and, given the talent gap in many sectors of the tech industry, it’s worth employers while to keep in mind what it is that really attracts candidates.
