The 2010 Eircom Spider Awards are open for nominations and will take place on Thursday 18 November in the Burlington Hotel in Dublin.
The awards are entering their 15th year and honour Irish individuals and organisations for their outstanding achievements online throughout 2010.
“Eircom is proud to once again be title sponsor of these important Awards which play an integral role in showcasing the best of the internet,” said Stephen Beynon, chairman of the judging panel and group managing director of Consumer and Small Business in Eircom.
“They not only provide an opportunity to recognise excellence and innovation but they continue to highlight emerging trends and future potential growth sectors within the online community.
“This year we are very excited about the three new award categories, in particular the Big Mouth Award – the shortlist for which will be determined by the public.”
The Big Mouth Award identifies the most influential voice in Irish internet and digital media. This particular award allows the public to nominate and shortlist the ‘Big Mouths’. This can include bloggers, online journalists or other relevant mediums.
The other new categories this year include The Digital Editor Award and The Best Mobile App Award.
The Digital Editor Award aims to highlight an individual’s excellence and the techniques used in online editing and content management.
The Best Mobile App Award acknowledges developers who have created the most innovative apps for iPhone, Android and smartphone.
There are 20 categories in total at the Eircome Spider Awards, designed to recognise and promote business and communities through technological advancements, innovation and e-commerce.
The closing date for nominations is Friday 17 September. For further information on the awards and for details on the entry process for each category, click here.
