Mobile news app gets Irish slant

11 Jan 2010

Created by Irish iPhone app development company OS3, ‘News Break’ is essentially an online “newspaper” reader that pulls in breaking news from seven Irish news sources, including the Irish Independent and the Irish Times, as well as 36 other international news sources.

While there are already custom apps from publications such as the Guardian, the Irish Independent and the New York Times, OS3 developer Damian O’Suilleabhain has pulled all sources together in one contained and paid-for (€2.99) application.

Covering six countries, 43 news sources and 425 categorised feeds, ‘News Break’ feeds can be read offline and stories can be shared from within the app both through email and Facebook.

OS3 is part of the growing iPhone developer community in Ireland that includes Lights Off developer Steven Troughton-Smith and Eirtext developer Vinny Coyne.
