RTÉ has introduced a new content and social media-led entertainment news website aimed at connecting users with the latest entertainment news from Ireland and configure their TV listings via Twitter, Facebook, Google, Outlook calendars and RSS.

RTÉ Ten is an Entertainment Network bringing the best from the RTÉ.ie entertainment site and www.rteguide.ie into one enhanced website connecting users to breaking entertainment news, video interviews, reviews, showbiz gossip, and personalised TV listings, as well continuing to carry reviews of all the latest movies, CDs and books, gaming content and fantastic competitions.

The site’s enhanced social-media capabilities will ensure users can not only read and view content, but also interact with it and share it with their friends via Facebook, Twitter and other social-media platforms. For Irish entertainment news addicts, RTÉ Ten promises to get behind the news and deliver a strong Irish and international angle.

RTÉ Ten will present The Daily Ten – the hottest, newest and most popular entertainment news content from Ireland and around the world. Up-to-the minute, top stories from The Daily Ten can be delivered directly to the inbox by subscribing via RSS or by email.

RTÉ Ten will also allow entertainment news fans to connect to the latest news stories via Twitter (Twitter.com/RTÉ_TEN). It will also provide a constant Twitter stream from the more active and interesting Tweeting Celebs on the site’s home page.

Personalised TV listings

RTÉ Ten features a brand new RTÉ Guide TV listings section which offers seven days of listings for an extensive range of channels which can be tailored to the individual’s interests.

RTÉ Guide listings will be presented in a grid style and provide more in-depth programme information for all the user’s favourite shows.

Users can also set reminders using their Outlook or Google calendars and invite their friends to watch along with them using Facebook or Twitter, something which is sure to be a big hit among visitors to the site.

The grid also includes programme recommendations based on the viewers’ own selections. The listings are constantly updated, picking up all the latest programme changes.

“RTÉ Ten is all about creating an entertainment community through keeping entertainment and showbiz fans in the know by providing the very best in entertainment content from Ireland and around the world,” said RTÉ Ten editor Bree Treacy.

“There is a growing appetite among our existing audiences for more up-to-the-minute news from the world of showbiz and entertainment, demonstrated by the average monthly traffic to RTÉ.ie/entertainment which is currently in excess of 6.9 million page impressions

“We expect this number to increase with the launch of RTÉ Ten, which is will be an attractive offering to commercial clients, as 45pc of users are in the 15-34 age bracket.

“The fact that users can share the content and impress their friends and even share their TV viewing preferences through our enhanced RTÉ Guide listings means that we are confident that the site will prove to be indispensable to Ireland’s many entertainment and showbiz fans,” Treacy said.
