2011 Satellite Broadband Ireland Digital Media Awards finalists announced

The Satellite Broadband Ireland Digital Media Awards, which honour the best in digital media in Ireland, have just announced the list of nominees that have made the final.

The gala award ceremony is set to take place on Friday, 11 February 2011, at the Convention Centre Dublin, with well-known journalist Mark Little presenting on the night. Some of the best-known campaigns of the year have made it to the final for brands as diverse as Audi, Heineken, Sony, Berocca, An Post and Meteor. CKSK Studios achieved the most nominations, with 22, and other organisations nominated include ICAN, Cybercom, 3, RTÉ and the Irish Film Board.

According to organisers, this year saw a record number of entries received for the 20 categories, which include Best Digital Start-up, Best Online News and Best Social Media. Three new award categories were also added in order to reflect the changes in the digital media sector: the User Experience Award, Best in Gaming and Best New Application.

Commenting on the finalists, event director Susan Grant said: “The digital sector is evolving rapidly and these awards acknowledge excellence within the industry and highlight market leaders. This year we have very strong contenders and competition is high. Noted categories with lots of entries include User Experience, Best App, Gaming and Mobile Internet Innovation, which is reflective of the new technology developed here in Ireland.”

The judges include Ronan Harris of Google, Rick Kelley of Facebook, award-winning journalist Kathleen Barrington and Prof Barry McMullin of DCU.
