Internationally recognised actress Brenda Fricker has attended the Computer Clubhouse 3rd Annual Showcase in Dublin 8 to officially launch its new film production studio.
The South West Inner City Network (SWICN) established the Computer Clubhouse in The Liberties in 2003. It is SWICN’s flagship youth programme delivering positive education experiences through technology and one-to-one mentoring with volunteers from industry and third-level colleges.
The Computer Clubhouse provides a safe, creative, free after-school learning environment for young people from under-served communities in Dublin 8.
The young people, aged 8-18 years, work with adult mentors, exploring their own ideas, developing skills and building confidence through the use of technology.
The theme for the annual showcase was ‘Discriminate – Young People’s Perspectives: Fighting Discrimination in the Digital Age’. Fighting discrimination is of great importance to the young students at the clubhouse.
