Having locked down Christian Bale to lead the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic, the process of casting other figures in the Apple story has begun with the news that Seth Rogen will play company co-founder Steve Wozniak.

That’s according to Variety sources who also say that Zero Dark Thirty star Jessica Chastain is being lined up for an unspecified role.

Based on Walter Isaacson’s biography Steve Jobs, the project is to be helmed by Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle. Aaron Sorkin, writer of The Social Network, is to pen the script. Following much speculation, it was Sorkin who last week confirmed that Bale will play Jobs.

“We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that’s Chris Bale,” said Sorkin. “We didn’t have to audition.”

Wozniak is credited as playing a major role in the revolution of home computing, having single-handedly designed the Apple I and Apple II in the 1970s. The 64-year-old recently made headlines when the University of Technology, Sydney’s (UTS) faculty of engineering and IT appointed him adjunct professor.

The new biopic is Hollywood’s second attempt at a big-screen depiction of Jobs following the poorly received film Jobs, which was released just last year. Ashton Kutcher starred in the title role with character actor Josh Gad playing Wozniak.

While filming has yet to begin on this latest project, US chat-show host Conan O’Brien has already offered a glimpse of movie. In a distinctly Batman-esque production, Bale as Jobs muses about choosing an apple as his company’s brand, launches the iPhone, and goes head-to-head with a rather burly ‘Bill Gates’ of Microsoft.
