Twitter users can now share tweets privately via DMs on iOS and Android devices

21 Nov 2014

Adding to the spice that is Twitter, the social platform has now made it possible for users to share public tweets within direct messages (DMs) on mobile devices.

Aimed primarily at mobile users with iOS and Android devices, users simply long-press on their chosen tweet and among the sharing options such as email and copy is the option to ‘Share via Direct Message’.

The feature already exists on the web and in TweetDeck for Chrome, Web and Windows under the ‘More’ icon.

The feature is to come soon for users of TweetDeck for Mac.

The person you share a tweet with will get a push notification, and the tweet will display directly in the conversation.

“Twitter is already a great place for public conversation; now it’s also easier to privately discuss things you care about,” said Twitter product manager Sachin Angarwal.
