The birth of Twoogle: Google to allow Twitter posts to appear in search feed

5 Feb 2015

Two of the world’s largest tech companies have joined forces as part of a deal that will see user tweets appear in Google’s search results to make them more searchable online.

Starting before the end of the first half of 2015, tweets will automatically be fed into Google’s search results so that people who may want to find a specific tweet from someone does not have to go through Twitter itself, but just a Google search.

Despite boasting millions of users worldwide, Twitter is attempting to expand its reach further with people who may not have ever used the service before having only yesterday announced that it is to create an entirely new landing page for people visiting the site who don’t have an existing account.

It also marks its expansion into three of the largest search users on the internet, having already agreed deals to provide data to Yahoo!’s and Microsoft’s Big search results.

According to Bloomberg, engineers from both companies are now working on integrating tweets into Google’s powerful search engine, but both Google and Twitter have yet to make a formal announcement on the deal.

One of these engineers has said that the deal will be devoid of advertising revenue, but will be benefiting in terms of data-licencing revenue, but more details are expected to be revealed ahead of Twitter’s financial results tomorrow.
