Political correctness gains new respect thanks to PC2Respect

13 Aug 2015

A new Chrome extension, PC2Respect, has been making headlines this week, changing all in-browser mentions of ‘political correctness’ to ‘treating people with respect’.

PC2Respect was an inspired response to the Donald Trumps of the world. At the Republican presidential candidate debate last week, Trump proudly proclaimed that political correctness was a ‘big problem’ in the US.

He’s by no means alone in thinking that so-called political correctness is the preserve of the over-emotional, with armchair commentators becoming increasingly overwrought at the thought of ‘political correctness gone mad’.

In fact, just this week, renowned actor John Rhys-Davies decried political correctness as the great civilisation ender.

Thankfully, we now have PC2Respect to make the ridiculousness of anti-PC statements even more apparent.

The extension was devised by New Zealander Byron Clark and, as so many things do these days, it all began with a tweet.

An influx of requests to make the extension public brought PC2Respect to the masses, making it possible for us to bring you (screengrabs of) the following tweets.

Matthew and Samuel think treating people with respect is a cancer.

We couldn’t just have one Trump quote. Here’s the man himself claiming treating people with respect will be the end of America.

And finally, Frazer is really annoyed about having to treat people with respect.
