Just how big is the Star Wars Millennium Falcon meant to be?

How big is the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars and how does it measure up to other spaceships in movies and TV shows?

A long time ago, in an imagination far, far away in Hollywood, an entertainment lord called George Lucas dreamed up the Millennium Falcon for the 1977 original Star Wars movie, A New Hope. But just how big was the spaceship meant to be in real terms?

The answer is 34m2 !

Meatball Studios made this amazing CGI video detailing the various spaceships in many of your favourite sci-fi movies, from Star Wars to Interstellar and 2001: A Space Odyssey, as well as video games like Halo.

For example, the TIE Fighter from Star Wars is six metres in scale, just about big enough to fit the average human that stands 1.80m (5ft 11in) tall, while its adversary the X-Wing is bigger at 12m.

The Starfury from Babylon 5 is 10m while the UNSC Pelican from the Halo games universe is 30m, almost on par with the Millennium Falcon.

You get the gist. Enjoy
