You’re about to see a whole lot of lightsabers on Facebook

15 Dec 2015

Facebook has partnered with Lucasfilm to make your social media a bit more Star Warsy, so expect to see an awful lot more lightsabers in your feed.

The number of commercial, promotional and bizarre deals that have been struck up with the Star Wars franchise in the lead up to The Force Awakens release has already been pretty emphatic, but there’s a new one that’s all set to explode onto the scene.

Lucasfilm has partnered with Facebook in a bit of a quirky move, allowing fans to include a lightsaber in their profile pictures.

Users simply have to visit the Star Wars page on Facebook and try it out. You can set it up for a certain amount of time and, presto!

This isn’t the first time Facebook has let profile pictures be themed – marriage equality, for example, saw loads of people add rainbows to their pics.

There are two lightsabers to choose from, obviously, again continuing the current theme of choosing sides.

This film really is massive.

Here are my attempts, with the lightsaber creatively hiding me from view.
