The top global Google searches of 2015

Google has revealed what the world searched for in 2015 and the list was topped by searches about the health of NBA star Lamar Odom, who was found unconscious but who is now making a recovery, as well as Charlie Hebdo and the Paris attacks.

The top global trending searches of 2015 were led by Lamar Odom, Charlie Hebdo, the movie Jurassic World and Caitlyn Jenner.

In technology, the top consumer gadget searches were topped by the iPhone 6s followed by the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Apple Watch.

The most searched for music artist in the world was Adele, followed by Sia and Eagles of Death Metal, the band whose live performance in Paris became the centre of the Paris attacks by terrorists.

In terms of those who died during 2015, the death of Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina topped the list, followed by Brazilian singer Cristiano Araujo and actor Christopher Lee.

In terms of sporting events, the biggest global searches centred on the Latin American soccer tournament Copa America followed by the Tour de France, Wimbledon, the Rugby World Cup and the Super Bowl.

Irish singer Hozier was one of the top trending music acts globally of 2015, coming ninth on the list.

In Ireland, the most searched terms on Google during 2015 were Rugby World Cup 2015, the death of Karen Buckley and the fighting sensation that is Conor McGregor.
