If you love skiing and if you love technology then prepare your eyes for visual feast involving intrepid skiers, HD and LED lights

This is skiing season and if you are lucky enough to be able to embark on a ski break and you love technology then prepare your eyes for visual feast involving intrepid skiers, LED lights, plenty of powder and all filmed in glorious HD.

Shot a couple of years ago to promote its colour-backlit Ambilight televisions, Dutch electronics giant Philips worked with Stockholm agency Ahlstrand & Wållgren, film company Sweetgrass Productions, and a crew of pro skiers – Pep Fujas, Chris Benchetler, Eric Hjorleifson and Daron Rahlves.

The result was Afterglow, a 12-minute clip shot on the slopes at Golden Alpine Holidays in Alyeska, Alaska.

The most striking parts involve LED suits and are shot in the dead of night to present skiing, colour, light and snow as you’ve never seen them before.

Enjoy!

Afterglow: short but epic LED light suit segment

Afterglow: full 12-minute film

And if you liked all that, here’s the making of Afterglow
