Three-quarters of people spend their commute listening to either music, podcasts or the radio

We all know that commuting can be stressful.

Sitting in traffic is no fun for anyone, while overcrowded public transport can cause headaches for commuters who value their personal space.

The spate of Luas strikes that took place here in Ireland recently also highlighted how stressed people can get when their commute is messed up.

With all this in mind, the results of a survey of 1,000 US adults by the Auto Insurance Center aren’t too surprising.

It found that unexpected delays (22pc) and other commuters (20pc) caused people the most stress, while the days of chatting to the person sitting beside you on the bus seem to be in the past, with 75pc of people saying they spend their commute listening to music, the radio or podcasts.

So, if you’re finding your commute a tad stressful, check out the infographic below for tips on how to make your commute a more pleasant experience.
