3 and Setanta Screens in festival TV deal

Mobile network 3 and LED screen hire company Setanta Screens are teaming up to offer music fans a live, interactive TV experience at festivals this summer.

Setanta Screens, the largest LED screen hire company in the country, will provide a full-service, live TV channel at all major outdoor concerts promoted by MCD, including Oxegen, Hi:Fi and concerts in Marley Park. It will feature exclusive programming, competitions and advertisements.

The new concert channel, 3V, will be visible on all big screens in the many arenas and campsites at these events. Interaction will take place on the big screens via Setanta Screens’ award-winning Gigtext, which enables text, media messaging and 3G interaction using mobile phones.

“We are pioneers in Europe for going beyond LED screen hire to offer clients the ability to engage consumers on numerous levels and with 3’s support we’re going to create a new level of service for client, audience and advertiser alike,” said Ronan O’Kelly, managing director of Setanta Screens.

Head of music for 3 Ireland Graeme Slattery said: “We are delighted to partner with Setanta Screens to forge strong links with Irish music fans in a new and meaningful way.”

Some of the programming ideas include ‘campsite challenge’, a live programme where music fans compete in tricycle racing and an air guitar competition. Prizes on offer in live texting competitions include the chance to upgrade your tent to a luxury Winnebago RV with all VIP perks, a prize worth more than €3,000.
