Online TV streaming service Aertv.ie is working with Irish multimedia news agency Ballywire to launch a new Irish sports channel, Aertv Sports.
The channel aims to connect the Irish diaspora with sports in Ireland, allowing them to support their home teams no matter where they are.
It will show sports and events from around the country with an emphasis on Irish sporting communities. There will also be extreme sport features from Red Bull TV and live streaming from matches.
“Irish sporting communities and niche sports are often under-represented by the traditional broadcasters,” said Aertv director Philippe Brodeur.
“We are keen to engage with communities around Ireland and share their passion. Aertv can provide fantastic exposure and promotion for them both home and abroad.
“With the ability to reach anyone with a broadband connection or internet-enabled device, the opportunities are endless,” said Brodeur.
Aertv.ie, operated by Magnet, currently streams 16 channels, including Irish terrestrial channels. Users with an internet-connected device can watch Aertv from anywhere across the globe without needing a cable or set-top box.
Aertv is the fifth original channel launched on the service, joining Aertv Music, Aertv Movies, Unravel Travel and Dublin Community TV.
