Apple planning iTunes 11 release

Apple is reportedly preparing to release iTunes 11, which could support the next version of its mobile OS – iOS 6 – as well as its future devices. It may also provide better iCloud integration.

9to5Mac reports that the next version of iTunes will see changes at the back end of the service rather than cosmetic changes. However, there could be some new UI elements and visible features.

It could include an increased integration of Apple’s cloud service iCloud, which will include a dedicated iCloud settings panel letting users control iCloud features while in iTunes, such as iTunes Match, iTunes iOS device backups and more.

iTunes 11 is reportedly being developed to be fully compatible with iOS 6, however, there could be other versions of iTunes 10 which will be compatible with Apple’s next mobile OS.

Apple may also be planning a full iTunes Store and App Store redesign between the summer and autumn to make the service easier to use. It purchased app search firm Chomp to help improve content discovery within iTunes.
