Apple sells nostalgia with Commodore 64 iPhone app

8 Sep 2009

Apple iPhone owners with a penchant for nostalgic 8-bit gaming are in for a treat with the new Commodore 64 emulator app from the App Store.

Including classics like Jupiter Landing and Jack Attack, the app, named C64, features original Commodore games graphics and that original SID (Sound Interface Device) sound that brings you back to the glorious heydays of the classic games console.

How do I play it, I hear you ask? There is a virtual joystick and C64 keyboard and it plays in both landscape and portrait.

Five games come free with the app, which is priced at €3.99, and three more are coming: Bristle, Astro Chase and the Commodore Sports Pack 1.

The app was developed jointly by Kiloo and Manomio, and also works with the iPod touch.
