Customised travel app for Bebo

20 Dec 2007

Software company Where I’ve Been (WIB) has announced a partnership with Bebo that will see its interactive travel application made available on the social networking site.

The Chicago-based WhereIvebeen.com site is launching a version of its interactive map as part of Bebo.com’s first open application introduction. Bebo users can now access the feature at www.bebo.com/whereivebeen or by going to www.whereivebeen.com.

The tool is already available on Facebook and MySpace. The feature is available as a world map on the user’s profile page, where users can highlight the countries they have been to, lived in or want to go to by clicking on them and changing the colour. The personalised map can then be quickly and easily shared with friends.

Exclusive features on Bebo.com for the next 30 days will allow users to scroll over their friends’ profile pictures and view the cost of a flight, the currency exchange rate and the weather in their friends’ destination.

Beboers can also show cities, in addition to countries, they’ve lived in or travelled to and create their own profiles and view information about friends’ locations.

A feature will also allow music fans to track a favourite band on tour around the world.

“Where I’ve Been allows Bebo users to interact with other members in their network,” said Michael Birch, CEO and co-founder of Bebo. “The team at Where I’ve Been has built great application that’s fun and easy to use. We’re proud to have them as our premier travel partner for launch.”
