The new SkyFire app for the iPhone that enables the user to make Flash videos viewable has been pulled from Apple’s App Store – but not by Apple.
Developers removed the mobile browser app from the store because of the huge demand for the product.
SkyFire works by converting Flash videos into HTML5 on SkyFire’s servers. The demand for SkyFire has placed a huge load on the servers, thus reducing the quality of video being converted from Flash in the app.
The app “sold out”, according to the developers, but it appears a limit had been placed on the number of apps that can be sold to ensure the servers can cope with the demand.
The developers added they will begin selling the app again shortly, with more licences to be made available.
