Facebook’s Project Titan, what the social networking giant has dubbed its “Gmail killer”, may be revealed at a press event on Monday.

The invitation-only gathering taking place in San Francisco, California, US, is also expected to include the revelation of personal @facebook.com email addresses for users, as well as a fully-fledged webmail client. At the very least, it would improve the way messaging works on Facebook.

The invitations themselves have sparked speculation that the event has to do with Facebook’s messaging and inbox system, as they sport the inbox icon used in the company’s iPhone and Android apps.

Gmail is internet search giant Google’s webmail client.
