15 Dec 2010

Facebook has been drawing quite the positive publicity lately, first with its CEO Mark Zuckerberg being named Time magazine’s person of the year, and now being deemed best place to work in a study from career community site Glassdoor.com.

Facebook earned a company rating of 4.6, beating last year’s top employer, Southwest Airlines, which earned a 4.4 rating this year, according to the site. Those businesses were followed by, in order, Bain & Co., General Mills, and Edelman.

Another top tech company, Apple, moved up the ranks, from No 22 last year to No 20 this year. Google, which was at No 14 last year, dropped to the No 30 position this year.

Glassdoor.com publishes job listings, salary information, and company reviews, and also gives workers a forum in which to anonymously provide their opinions about their employers and CEOs.

Zuckerberg ranks highly among Facebook employees, as well, the study suggests. He earned a 96pc approval rating for CEOs in Glassdoor’s results.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt matched Zuckerberg, while Apple CEO Steve Jobs garnered a 97pc approval rating.
