Facebook updates Android SDK, creates Android Developer Centre

19 Oct 2012

Facebook’s latest version of its Android SDK represents its biggest overhaul yet, bringing with it advanced functionality and easier distribution and promotion, as well as the launch of an Android Developer Centre.

Facebook SDK 3.0 beta for Android contains several pre-built Fragments and Views for common tasks to help developers build apps faster and with a consistent user experience.

The backwards-compatible update also comes with tools that simplify authentication and authorisation, better Facebook API support, and the ability to measure clicks and installs from mobile app install ads, which were opened up to all developers earlier this week.

Along with the updated SDK, Facebook has introduced the Android Developer Centre, giving developers a dedicated place to access to tools and resources for learning the basics and building apps.
