Facebook has updated its Android app, bringing chat functionality and push notifications for devices running Android 2.2 or higher.
Version 1.5 of the Android Facebook app lets users access chat. It has a background mode, letting users receive messages while using other apps.
Push notifications have also been introduced for phones running Android 2.2 or higher. However, these notifications only highlight chat and not comments and likes.
While it’s great to see an upgrade for Android’s Facebook app, it’s a pity there are still limitations, especially compared to its iPhone counterpart.
However, upgrades are still unfinished, so perhaps we’ll soon see more improvements.
