Google adds new features to Google+

Google today revealed that its +1 button now appears on more than a million sites with over four billion daily views. It also added new social networking features aimed at making it easier to share pages with other user as well as a +snippets feature to make it easier to share content.

“Beginning today, we’re making it easy for Google+ users to share webpages with their circles, directly from the +1 button,” Google’s engineering boss Vic Gundotra said today.

“Just +1 a page as usual and look for the new ‘Share on Google+’ option. From there you can comment, choose a circle and share.”

Sharing is caring

Gundotra added on the official Google blog that publishers can now add the +snippets feature on Google+ to their own sites. The +snippet features automatically includes a link, image and description when users share content via the +1 button.

“With just a few changes to their webpages, publishers can actually customise their +snippets and encourage more sharing of their content on Google+,” Gundotra said.

More details about this new feature are available on the Google Webmaster blog

Gundotra said Google will be rolling out sharing and +snippets globally over the next week.
